Cornwallis Academy kick off Fishing for Schools session

Cornwallis Academy from Maidstone were the latest school to start a Fishing for Schools session last week, at Grove Farm, Hadlow College.

Fishing for Schools coach Warren White explains:

The school have just returned to our programme after a few years off after a key teacher left, but a teacher who was who knew the benefits it has on the students re-applied and was successful in gaining a place on the programme.

The programme is so popular with schools in Kent, that if you are one of the lucky ones to get through the application stage, you have done well.

There was some real good fishing today all over the lake, but I would like to highlight an excellent bit of fishing by a young lady on the course, Ruby.

Throughout the day she was keen, vocal, but certainly done the business with eight good sized carp.

Bob Goble the fly coach teaching fly style surface fishing, told me that she knew what she was doing, so he just let her get on with it.

A really great achievement and lovely to see.
