Statement following Government announcement 18th September 2020:
Given the recent guidelines and advice by the Government and new COVID rulings; and putting both anglers and the sport first; The Fishing for Schools team have reluctantly and very regretfully, elected to postpone our Fishing for Schools Bank Partners matches that where to be held during October and November - for the most part.
As a charitable organisation, we must put our care of the individual and that of participants at the absolute forefront of any decision we make; this we have done. Consequently, the viability of Fishing for Schools being able launch and hold our Bank Partners - National Small Stillwater Championships this year, has had to be reviewed in light of these exceptional, ever changing and emerging circumstances.
But we, at Fishing for Schools refuse to be beaten by the pernicious virus.
We have, therefore, decided to go ahead with one inaugural event, this year. An event that will not only become the platform for a greater spread of opportunities next season, but also offer participants a combination of great fishing and great fun.
This will be held at Brick Farm Lakes, Windmill Hill, Herstmonceux, East Sussex BN274RS on Saturday 14th November 2020.
To enter and reserve a place please contact Brick Farm Lakes on 01323 832615.
As you can imagine, this departs from the prestigious and exciting array of events we had planned so meticulously to bring you all; but we are convinced it is the right, appropriate and responsible decision to make in the current circumstances.
Rest assured, we are determined to hold a National Championship with our innovative and unique format next year and as soon as circumstances allow.
I would like to offer my deep, personal thanks to all the regional qualification venues who have been brilliant in supporting and promoting the event, our sponsors for their generosity and the Fishing for Schools Consultation and Planning Team for their insight, sense and creativity in reacting and dealing with a rapidly changing world in order to make this event happen, at all.
Most of all, I would like unreservedly to thank you - the fishers - without whom, there would be no ambition to hold the event in the first place!
Charles Jardine
Director – Fishing for Schools
