Fishing for Schools bags £2,000 from Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme

We are delighted to receive four grants amounting to £2,000 that will support the delivery of Fishing for Schools sessions to disadvantaged young people in Pontypool, Portsmouth and Shepton Mallet, helping build skills, confidence and wellbeing through education and the natural world.

Project Founder Charles Jardine said: “For small initiatives like we at F4S, grants like this allow us to help more children and young people and make huge difference in our community. Support like this from a major organisations is not only crucial to delivery but underpins our unique educational initiative”

To boost funds for extra food and activity equipment, Tesco is introducing a £5m grant programme, in partnership with Groundwork UK, to give children across the UK a stronger start in life. The grants will help schools and children’s groups provide nutritious food and healthy activities that support young people’s physical health and mental wellbeing, such as breakfast clubs or snacks, and equipment for healthy activities.

Tesco’s Stronger Starts – previously Tesco Bags of Help and Tesco Community Grants - has already provided over £110 million to more than 60,000 projects across Britain.

We look forward to sharing news of our funded projects during the course of the year.
