This month saw the return of Fishing for Schools to Rowhill School, Longfield; when a group of students, new to angling, was introduced to the world of fishing under the knowledgeable guidance of Fishing for Schools Coach, Warren White and his team.
Monk Lakes and Shorne Country Park offered perfect venues for the sessions. Fishing for Schools Coach Warren tells us:
“Shorne Country Park is always a good venue for new anglers to start a course, as it is full of fish, so gives the novice students the chance to handle and try disgorging fish.
Although some time was spent under the umbrella, in wet conditions, it certainly didn't dampen the students’ spirits.”
The students have learnt a wealth of new skills, from whip fishing, handling and attaching maggots, making groundbait using a riddle, casting, detecting bites; striking, playing, handling and unhooking fish
Huge thanks to Tesco Bags of Help scheme for supporting our work at Rowhill and to all at T.W.A.P.S Angling Club for the use of their water at Shorne Country Park.
